After three months of inactivity, Gambit is putting its main CS:GO roster on hold, the organization announced yesterday.

Gambit will start recruiting players again at the end of 2019. The organization now plans to use its junior team, Gambit Youngsters, in future competitions like the upcoming qualifier for the CIS Minor.

Gambit’s main roster played their last official match in February at the ECS season seven Challenger Cup qualifier. Since then, Vladyslav “bondik” Nechyporchuk left to join Winstrike and Sergey “Ax1Le” Rykhtorov was moved to the junior roster.

The organization is open to offers for the remaining four players, including two PGL Major winners in July 2017: Mihail “Dosia” Stolyarov and Rustem “mou” Telepov. The duo also won DreamHack Open Winter in November 2016 and DreamHack Open Austin in April 2017.

Nikolay “mir” Bityukov and Dmitry “dimasick” Matvienko both joined Gambit in 2018. They’re experienced players from the CIS region who’ve played for Vega Squadron and AVANGAR, respectively.

According to Konstantin Pikiner, Gambit Esports’ chief gaming officer, the organization is facing difficulties in assembling a new lineup. “Our pool of potential candidates is getting significantly narrower, since we are assembling a Russian speaking lineup,” Pikiner said. “Our goal is to assemble a competitive lineup until the end of 2019.”

Gambit Youngsters will represent the organization at the CIS Minor closed qualifier, which starts on June 8.
